Humans are the preeminent sentient species in the universe.

Description

Hailing from Earth, the various branches of humanity are the most populous race in the universe.

Humanity's spawn includes the Purebloods, the genemod subspecies of the Pantheon Diaspora, and the mutants and chimerae created after the Big Oops.

In all, thirteen colony ships were constructed during the Pantheon Diaspora, each one named after a Greek deity. Most are known to have survived and produced colonies: Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Artemis, Hades, Helios, Hephaestus, Poseidon, and Zeus. The fates of the Demeter, Dionysus, and Hera are unknown, and Athena was destroyed in Earth orbit during the Big Oops.

Each of the Pantheon colony ships was stocked with a large quantity of frozen genetic material from Earth, as well as a bank of powerful AIs and genemod equipment. Traveling at sublight speed to their ultimate destination, each ship arrived after centuries of travel and modified the onboard stock to survive on its chosen world.

The genemod process gave each Pantheon subspecies various advantages, but the rigid procedures of the AIs and the specialization performed to ensure survival was damaging or even fatal to the unmatched flexibility of pure humanity.
