Description

Thought to have originated out of the radiation of Krebius, the limax are a race of giant, intelligent slugs. They average around two and a half meters long, and have much the same generalized structure as Earth slugs - a soft rubbery body, covered in a protective slime with large eye stalks which can be drawn into the head. They also have two small spindly, near useless, manipulators which can be drawn into the body much like the eye stalks. They are quite bulky, easily weighing in the range of two hundred kilograms.

Limax respiration occurs through their skin. The skin needs to be suitably moist for the gas exchange to properly occur. If they become dehydrated they do not survive long.

One of the most distinctive features of the limax is the thick slime they excrete continuously. It serves to protect the skin of the limax, preventing moisture loss, as well it is an important part of their locomotion. They are unable to move across surfaces that are not coated in their slime in the process. On the skin of mammalian species the slime acts as a topical anesthetic, causing temporary numbness - this is a throwback to their small slug ancestors which have this ability to deter predation.

Limax are omnivorous, preferring vegetation, but are quite capable of consuming just about anything, if given enough time.

All limax are hermaphroditic.

Abilities

Due to their generally immense girth, limax are extremely slow moving. Their small arms are not much good for anything except manipulating the lightest of objects. Their slime is excreted continuously, so they leave a thick trail where ever they go, which takes several minutes to dry to a point where it is no longer a nuisance.

Interaction

Limax are naturally shrewd businessmen, and because they have such large families, as a species, they control massive conglomerations of wealth. Unfortunately, much of that wealth is gained through less than scrupulous means. Smuggling and contraband trafficking are common business ventures for many limax cartels. Most people prefer to steer clear of them, as they often do not hesitate to throw around their money to get their way.
